A wreath laying ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution and the aid offered by Barnsley to some of those who fled the country took place on Monday 19th October.

The wreath was placed below the Barnsley Civic Trust blue plaque, unveiled on the Miners’ Hall two years ago.
The Consul-General from the Hungarian Consulate thanked the people of Barnsley for ‘the welcome you gave to our fellow Hungarians’.
